B&Bs are perfect for a short break or touring, and represent a great way to travel and explore the beautiful British Isles. Your hosts will invariably provide a valuable source of local knowledge, helping you make the most of your stay in the locality, and in return you will make a real difference to the local economy. It is not by accident, that many discerning travellers consider B&Bs to be an essential element of their travels, and become dedicated Bed and Breakfasters!
B&Bs are Invariably family run accommodation businesses, where the family normally resides. They provide the sort of warm welcome, comfortable stay and affordable prices which very few alternative offers can equal. Every B&B is essentially unique, offering the widest range of accommodation including: Farm houses, converted Stables and Barnes, Manor Houses, Town Houses, suburban semis, guest houses and Country Cottages.
Bedrooms will either be single, Double/Twin, Triple or Family. Owners are invariably flexible regarding the organisation of beds and bedrooms to meet your needs. Due to the homely environment Room keys are rarely issued.
The majority of establishments now have en suite bath or shower facilities, but in some instances the bathroom may be separate from the Bedroom and occasionally shared. Please see individual listing details
Many owners make their family or separate sitting room available to their guests. Always discuss your needs and ensure that all room arrangements are to your liking at the time of booking.
When booking always be clear about what you have booked i.e. type of room, duration of stay and total cost. Some owners may request (especially at busy times i.e. Bank Holidays) a deposit or full payment in advance, which may be non-refundable, and as such it is worth asking the owner to explain their cancellations policy (where a deposit is requested) before making your booking.
Prices are per room and inclusive of Breakfast and all other facilities listed. Some owners will charge more at certain times of the year i.e. during a local music festival or county fair etc. Some owners will charge slightly less for stays of more than one night (particularly mid-week and low season), whilst some will ask for a two night minimum stay at the weekend. Always feel free to negotiate when booking, and please remember to view the promotional offers on individual listings.
All owners are accustomed to accepting cash or UK cheques with a cheque guarantee card. If you wish to pay by credit or debit card, please ensure that this is possible when making your reservation.
Try to indicate to the owners your approximate time of arrival (usually late afternoon i.e. after 4pm) in order that they are able to welcome you personally. Departure should be by mutual arrangement and usually no later than mid morning i.e. around 10am.
All establishments provide a full cooked or Continental Breakfast. With the exception of Breakfast, no other meals i.e. Dinner or packed lunches should be expected unless otherwise stated or arranged in advance. Most Owners will be able to advise you as to the best local dinning establishments.
